From 3 to 15 June 2026, world-renowned violinist and conductor Pinchas Zukerman toured China with pianist Shai Wosner, appearing at Beijing Concert Hall, Gulangyu Concert Hall in Xiamen, and Chengdu City Concert Hall, while also giving a masterclass at Hangzhou Jinsha Lake Grand Theatre. Zukerman’s 2026 China tour concluded successfully, receiving an enthusiastic response from audiences across the country.
At the performances in Beijing Concert Hall and Gulangyu Concert Hall in Xiamen, Zukerman and Wosner presented four works together: Schubert’s Violin Sonatina No. 3 in G minor, Brahms’s Violin Sonata No. 1 in G major, Bach’s Violin Sonata No. 3 in E major, and Brahms’s Violin Sonata No. 3 in D minor. Centered on the German and Austrian musical tradition, the programme ranged from Schubert’s lyrical delicacy to Bach’s structural clarity and the emotional depth of Brahms. Performing with great mutual understanding, Zukerman and Wosner demonstrated the artistry and technical refinement of both musicians.
As one of the most influential performers and conductors on today’s classical music scene, Zukerman has always placed great importance on working with young musicians. During the masterclass at Hangzhou Jinsha Lake Grand Theatre, he shared insights from his many years of performing and teaching with local students and audiences. His rigorous yet inspiring guidance proved highly rewarding for the participants, while also giving the audience a rare opportunity to experience his artistic ideas and deep commitment to music education at close range.
On 15 June, Zukerman joined the Chengdu City Concert Hall Symphony Orchestra for a concert themed “Mozart’s Metaverse,” performing Mozart’s Overture to The Magic Flute, Violin Concerto No. 5 in A major, K.219 “Turkish,” Symphony No. 39 in E-flat major, and Rondo in C major for Violin and Orchestra. Throughout the evening, the graceful violin lines and rich orchestral sound filled the hall, while the audience remained fully absorbed in Mozart’s musical world.
Pinchas Zukerman’s 2026 China tour not only showcased the legendary musician’s mature artistry and commanding stage presence, but also reflected his continued commitment to music education and artistic exchange beyond the concert stage. Over the course of just under two weeks, Zukerman and Shai Wosner brought memorable performances to audiences in different cities across China. With the tour now successfully concluded, Zukerman once again connected with Chinese audiences through the depth and sincerity of his musical expression.
