Boasting a history of over 160 years, the Hallé Orchestra made its much-anticipated return to China after a nine-year absence. Staging a grand tour of six cities and seven performances—from Wuhan Qintai Concert Hall to Beijing National Centre for the Performing Arts—it presented a high-caliber symphonic feast to more than 10,000 audiences.

Strongly supported by the British Embassy in China and local art institutions across the six host cities, the tour welcomed distinguished guests including British Ministers and Consuls General to its performances in Beijing, Chongqing, Chengdu and Shanghai, deepening China-UK bilateral dialogue through the universal language of art. A parallel thematic seminar, co-hosted with the Chengdu Municipal Government, its Foreign Affairs Office and Bureau of Culture and Tourism, leveraged the tour’s momentum to jointly map out the development blueprint for building an International Music Capital. As the tour not only endeared the Hallé’s iconic British tonal quality to Chinese audiences but also fostered a profound two-way artistic exchange, a fan aptly commented: “This nine-year reunion is music’s most beautiful language.”
